I have been collecting postage stamps and philately for over 50 years. When in Pakistan and after coming to Canada 27 years back, I have beenbhaving frequent correspondence with Pakistan Post Office authorities in Hyderabad, Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad region for buying stamps, stamp related materials, and queries regarding delaying or missing mails.
I found the Post Office staff all over the regional offices and GPO very competent and propt when it came to replying queries and attending complaints. But first time in my life, during the Imran Khan regime, his Federal Minister Murad Saeed was the worse incompetent and inefficient Minister who destroyed the entire system of postal administration from top to bottom.
It has been a practice of GPO Lahore/Karachi to provide newly issued postage stamps, First Day Covers, Leaflets, Stamp Sheets and Stamp Catalogues in all the GPOs, as small as Mirpurkhas GPO. But in 4 years, Pakistan Post and its crew top to bottom were the worst slackers of the world.
Unavailability of postage stationery at GPOs besides ignoring queries and attending complaints by the customes ruled the Pakistan Post.
The GPO or regional offices would not respond/ acknowledge a letter or an email. So.much so, Pakistan Post Website is not updated, the online sale facilities and items were totally in disarray.
A ridiculous and nonsendical version by Pakistan Post came to public when they STOPPED mounting postage stamps on the overseas packets and would use machine payment telling customers that it has been adopted to STOP the use of fake postage stamps.
When a commemorative Postage Stamp is issued, besides its face value for shipping use, it gives the awareness abd knowkedge around the world about country’s history, geography, culture, information about birds and animals, personalities, archeological and historical knowledfe of places, education, politics, cultural, economical and religious knowledge. For instance, a stamp on Kashmir or Pakistan Armed forces or Qaid e Azam tells the background of the person or event. So whe Pakistan Post Office is negating the basic concept of the issuance of an Stamp.
Pakistan is the only country in the world which on the state level takes every technology, invention, development of the world as the curse of God for the society instead being an augury and gospel.
